The Lakeside Theatre Co. Presents: I Remember Mama

A heartwarming and inspiring play based on the Kathryn Forbes’ novel ‘Mama’s Bank Account’. The play was performed on Broadway in 1944, followed by an award-winning film, a TV show, and a Musical. The play details the daily tragedies and triumphs of a Norwegian immigrant family in early 20 th century San Francisco. This simple and honest 1940’s classic shows how even the smallest and seemingly most insignificant experiences of family life still resonate with today’s audiences. This production will follow in the footsteps of an off-Broadway production by the Transport Group in New Jersey with the entire play (25 roles) performed by ten women. The play is a ‘memory play’, and women are ‘memory carriers’.
